Redefining hardware security keys, bridging digital and physical access control

Swissbit will unveil its latest advancements in authentication technology at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, taking place April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Moscone Center (booth #5168 North). A key highlight will be the debut of the next generation iShield Key 2 series, with full details to be revealed at the start of the conference.

Swissbit continues to develop and expand its portfolio of server and industrial storage solutions. At Embedded World 2025 in Nuremberg (March 11-13, Hall 1, Booth 1-510), the company will present high-performance PCIe SSDs for network, telecommunications and edge server applications as well as robust industrial storage solutions for automation, robotics, etc.

Swissbit is expanding its range of authentication solutions with a unique innovation: the iShield Key MIFARE. The new hardware security key is the first of its kind to combine the advantages of a FIDO Security Key with the NFC technology MIFARE DESFire EV3. The iShield Key MIFARE thus opens up a wide range of applications that go far beyond traditional user authentication and set new standards, particularly in the field of smart access control. The iShield Key MIFARE is available now.

REINER SCT is entering into a strategic partnership with Swissbit. As part of the cooperation, REINER SCT will distribute the security keys of the Swissbit iShield Key family in the future. In addition, the digital security expert is adding the REINER SCT FIDO Stick Pro, developed and produced by Swissbit, the first FIDO2 security key of its own, to its portfolio. The cooperation aims to promote the spread of FIDO technology as a phishing-resistant authentication method and to make it accessible to an even broader customer base.

MTRIX GmbH, one of the leading experts for professional authentication solutions in the DACH region, and Swissbit have entered into a sales partnership. Effective immediately, MTRIX is expanding its product portfolio to include the FIDO2 security keys from Swissbit’s iShield Key product family. In addition, MTRIX will be the first distribution partner to sell the latest innovation in Swissbit authentication solutions – the iShield Key MIFARE, which will be launched shortly.

Swissbit is proud to participate for the first time in Identity Week America 2024, held September 11–12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. We will showcase our innovative iShield Key authenticators, highlighting the critical role of phishing-resistant hardware security keys in an era of exponential increases in credential exposures and data breaches. Swissbit will also be actively involved in the conference program, with IAM technologist Chris Collier participating in three sessions.

Swissbit introduces its first PCIe Gen5 SSD with the launch of the D2200 series. Designed for enterprise servers and edge data centers, this series offers outstanding performance with up to 14 GB/s for sequential read and 10 GB/s for sequential write. The new SSD also excels in energy efficiency, delivering a sequential read performance of up to 970 MB/s per watt. The D2200 will be available in U.2 and E1.S form factors with storage capacities of 8 TB and 16 TB in late August.

With its conference and exhibition, this important industry event marks a significant milestone for Swissbit as it introduces to the community its cutting-edge iShield Key product series, thereby emphasizing the importance of robust hardware-based authentication in today’s digital age.

Swissbit is expanding its portfolio of hardware-based security keys with the new iShield Key Pro featuring a USB-C interface. Like its USB-A counterpart, the new model supports the FIDO2 standard as well as the PIV, HOTP and TOTP security protocols. The iShield Key Pro can also be used for physical access control applications, making it one of the most flexible security keys. It is also suitable for implementing security guidelines such as NIS-2, which requires multifactor authentication (MFA) in connection with IT systems for access control.

Secure data retention for police agencies and government authorities

For the first time, Swissbit will be represented at the General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference (GPEC) to be held from May 6 to 8, 2024 in Leipzig, Germany. GPEC is the largest closed-to-the-public special event for police and other security agencies in Europe. Swissbit will present its innovative iShield Archive solution in Hall 2 at Booth J41. The microSD card was developed especially for the secure retention of video and image recordings, making it ideal for use by police agencies, government authorities, and other organizations.

Swissbit will present selected innovations and product highlights at the Embedded World 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany (April 9-11, Booth 1-543). In the memory segment, Swissbit will focus on its PCIe high-performance portfolio, including the N5200 SSD, which stands out with its industry leading IOPS per watt ratio, as well as on versatile embedded solutions for industrial and IoT applications. In the security segment, Swissbit will showcase its new iShield Key Pro with USB-C as well as CmReady-certified memory cards for efficient license protection.

Imgenberg comes from Aware, Inc. to become Sales Director for Embedded IoT Solutions for Swissbit NA

Swissbit is pleased to announce the appointment of Kai Imgenberg as Sales Director for Embedded IoT Solutions. In this strategic role, Kai will lead a team of IoT sales professionals, driving Swissbit's vision to become a premier FIDO2 solution provider in North America. He will also play a pivotal role in expanding Swissbit's end-to-end embedded IoT security business across the B2B market, covering everything from chip to cloud.

HEP research project has presented an open, flexible design for a security chip

The project "Hardening the value chain through open source, trusted EDA tools and processors (HEP)", funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), uses open source, free components and tools to manufacture a chip at the IHP – Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics. Among other companies and research institutions, Swissbit Germany AG is an associated partner of the project.

PCIe Gen4 SSD in E1.S and U.2 form factors offers industry-leading IOPS-per-watt ratio

The N5200 Enterprise SSD combines reliability, durability, and scalability, making it the ideal choice for mission-critical applications. The SSD is a particularly efficient storage solution that consumes up to 30 percent less power than other PCIe Gen4 SSDs while delivering up to twice the performance. The N5200 range is Swissbit's first SSD solution available in Enterprise and Data Center Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) E1.S in addition to U.2. It is available in storage capacities from 1.92 to 7.68 TB.

At the “Microelectronics: Key to Transformation,” event held on September 18, 2023 at the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Swissbit Germany AG received a symbolic funding intent for several million euros. As an associated partner of the IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies (IPCEI ME/CT), Swissbit will receive funding for the “True-MEM” project, the overarching aim of which is to expand trusted supply and value chains for critical microelectronics components.

ICT distributor expands its IT security portfolio with solutions from Swissbit's iShield product family  

The Japanese-based software house and IT product distributor, SoftGiken and Swissbit have entered a sales partnership for the Japan region. SoftGiken is thus expanding its IT security portfolio and will now offer selected security solutions from the iShield product brand, under which Swissbit has grouped its plug-and-play security products, which are iShield Key Pro and iShield HSM.

Swissbit and lern.link GmbH, one of the DACH region's top integration consultants for the Moodle learning management system, are enhancing security for online learning platforms. The integration of the FIDO2 standard, which allows users to securely log in to the Moodle platform using multi-factor authentication (MFA), is an important initial step in the partnership. The already established Moodle plug-in for "multi-factor authentication" has been extended to integrate FIDO2/WebAuthn on the initiative of both companies and with the help of Swissbit.

iShield HSM makes OTA software updates even more secure, receiving the "Works with Mender" label

Swissbit is now an official partner of Northern.tech, the company behind Mender, the open-source over-the-air (OTA) update software platform for IoT devices. With its iShield HSM hardware security module, Swissbit offers a security component that ensures the authenticity and integrity of OTA firmware and software updates in terms of a zero-trust network architecture. To certify the suitability and compatibility of iShield HSM as a hardware security anchor for Mender OTA updates, it has received the "Works with Mender" label.

Swissbit is a partner of the IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies

On June 8, 2023, the European Commission approved the IPCEI Microelectronics and Communication Technologies (IPCEI ME/CT) under state aid law. This paves the way for the promotion of a total of 31 projects aimed at strengthening the microelectronics industry in Germany. As an associated partner and a company based in Berlin, Swissbit Germany AG is among the supported projects.

Swissbit to Showcase Data Center Application Optimized SSDs

Swissbit will participate in the inaugural US-hosted CloudFest USA 2023 in Austin, Texas from May 31 to June 3, 2023.
