S-45, U-50, X-600, G-26? Anyone familiar with Swissbit knows that these letter-number combinations are the names of our products and product families. But why are the series called this way, what is the meaning of the numbers and what can be read from them? Time for a short introduction!
Let's start with the letters. Of course, these stand for the different product categories of our NAND flash solutions, depending on form factor or interface:
Now let's have a look at the numbers. Based on the two or three digits, you can easily get an idea on what flash technology and generation is used in each product.
The first number after the letter indicates the product generation of a series, see the S-50 was introduced after the S-30. But there is much more to find out.
All products with two digits are based on MLC or TLC technology (e.g. S-45, U-50) and in case the last number is a 6 or an 8, than the product is configured in so-called pSLC mode (e.g. S-46, U-48, X-76).
If the series designation contains three digits, then the product utilizes SLC flash memory (e.g. S-455, X-600).
One final note: The series name is only a first indication and logically divides the Swissbit product portfolio into categories. Each series and its associated products are available in a wide variety of feature sets, densities and many different parameters. The detailed specifications of each product is set in the individual Part Number. The Swissbit Product Finder helps you to navigate through our portfolio and identify exactly the part you need.
Now you are clued up on how our series are made up, you might want to have a look on how our part codes are composed. Have a look on the Swissbit Partnumber Decoder.
