Nonetheless there is one common aspect: qualifying and certifying components for medical use is a lengthy, expensive task and the timeline from the initial testing to volume production may extend over several years. Any requalification needs to be avoided as much as possible. This requires storage products that have a frozen BOM and long availability for many years. Medical imaging

MRI images with high resolution quickly fill GBs of data. The data rate needs to be high and constant. Due to the large switching of magnetic pulses the storage media should be immune to magnetic interference. The strong switching also causes vibration, which requires a robust housing. Service interval should be maximized. All of these requirements are fulfilled by the SATA 6Gb/s, 2.5" drive X-66, which offers up to 480 GB of high endurance storage.
