Swissbit at EuroShop 2023

Berlin, February 8, 2023 - EuroShop, the biggest trade show in the world for the retail sector, will open its doors on February 26 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Swissbit AG, a leading supplier of technical security equipment (TSE) in Germany, is looking forward to exhibiting at the retail industry’s principal trade fair, to present the latest advancements in international fiscalization and TSE solutions for the German market. Swissbit will be co-exhibiting on the Partner Tech Europe GmbH booth in Hall 6/E42, where its new cloud TSE strategy will be a key show highlight. Since first announcing it last year, Swissbit has been working hard on the implementation of the solution, which focuses on a hardware security anchor for both cloud-based billing systems and cash registers with offline capabilities. A significant step forward for Swissbit in the development of the new TSE solution for the market is already well underway: the certification process at the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) was set in motion the end of last year.

With its hardware TSE portfolio, Swissbit has set the standard for simplicity, and at the end of 2019, became the first manufacturer ever to receive TSE certification in Germany. Almost any modern point-of-sale (POS) system can be easily retrofitted with Swissbits’ USB sticks, SD and microSD cards, to comply with the German Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV). These benefits will be systematically included by Swissbit into its new solution offering. The hardware TSE will in future serve as an anchor for an optional subscription for online signatures. Once plugged in, the hardware provides offline and online signature functionality throughout a POS's lifetime. Swissbit thus has established the basis for fully legally compliant access to cloud technologies without the need for a TPM or other prerequisites for environmental protection by using a pluggable hardware security anchor as a local SMAERS component.

Swissbit intends to release the online signature feature via a certified firmware update to all current customers and partners in the field following certification and completion of the solution. New customers, on the other hand, will continue to benefit from the usual flexibility of being able to easily switch between the many Swissbit TSE solutions, depending on their requirements, and therefore take advantage of all the freedom of choice.
