EuroCIS 2022: TSE solutions range expansion and latest innovations from Swissbit

17/05/2022

Berlin, Germany. May 17, 2022 – Under the headline "Tomorrow is the new today", EuroCIS 2022, Europe’s leading trade show for retail technology, will open its doors on May 31 in Düsseldorf. Swissbit AG, one of Germany’s leading suppliers of technical security equipment (TSE), will be co-exhibiting on the Partner Tech Europe GmbH booth in Hall 9, booth D21. EuroCIS presents the perfect platform for Swissbit to provide show visitors with updates on the most recent developments in fiscalization and TSE solutions. Even more than a year after the statutory deadline for the conversion of cash register systems has passed, the topic remains highly topical: numerous rollout projects are still in progress. As a total solutions provider, Swissbit covers all TSE applications and offers maximum flexibility with a choice of single device, LAN, and cloud solutions. All Swissbit TSE solutions are BSI-certified and ensure secure transition in accordance with the requirements of the German Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV).

The key lies in the hardware: New Cloud TSE Strategy

In Düsseldorf, Swissbit will elaborate on and provide further context to its expanded cloud TSE strategy that was initially announced at the end of April. For web-based POS systems, the latest concept focuses on the security anchor in the form of a memory card or USB stick. Swissbit combines the advantages of a hardware TSE that is 100 percent legally compliant, with the flexibility of a subscription-based online signature service. Using a pluggable hardware security anchor as a local SMAERS component, Swissbit enables simple, legally compliant access to cloud technology without requiring a TPM or any other measures to ensure security and environmental safety.

With such an approach, Swissbit enables its existing customers who are currently using a hardware TSE to simply and securely transition to a cloud TSE. In this case, the existing hardware serves as the cloud TSE’s security anchor. Even with this new direction, new customers can continue to depend on the flexibility they are accustomed to of being able to easily switch between the range of Swissbit TSEs according to their requirements, thereby maximizing the full scope of available options.

New: LAN connector software for iOS-based POS systems

For its existing TSE portfolio Swissbit will also announce further innovations at EuroCIS: for example, the LAN connector software for connecting networked POS systems will be available for iOS in the near future. The TSE LAN connector solution provides cash register manufacturers with an option for USB TSE modules that plug into a "master" cash register or a store-based cash register server. With the help of the connector software and additional USB TSEs, the solution can be scaled as needed and, if necessary, a large number of POS systems in the local network can be very easily be made tamper-proof. For the implementation, Swissbit offers convenient software development kits (SDK), which are already available for Windows, Linux and Android in addition to the recently released iOS version.

Fiscalization for international markets

A further highlight at EuroCIS is the emergence of new markets and countries for fiscalization and TSE solutions. In cooperation with RetailForce and JB Fiscal Consulting, both of which are part of the Partner Tech Group, Swissbit will present information and offer advice on potential possibilities in Düsseldorf.
