Welcome to the Swissbit Blog!

Today we have two reasons to celebrate! Firstly, I have the honor of welcoming you to our brand new corporate blog with this very first post. From now on, we would like to keep you up to date with interesting news, exciting background stories about our products & solutions as well as insightful knowledge pieces about technologies and industry trends.

Secondly, as you may already know, Swissbit is celebrating its 20th birthday this year. And not just that! (Almost) to the day it was 20 years ago today, when Swissbit AG was created in July 2001 through a management buyout from the Siemens Semiconductor Group.

I think it's no exaggeration to say that 20 years in the electronics industry is an era, even more so for storage media in particular: Imagine, when SD cards were introduced to the market in 2000, their maximum storage capacity was just 64 MB! Now, over two decades later, we have left these limitations far behind and Swissbit has grown into a leading global technology provider offering reliable solutions for all common storage interfaces.

I don't want to tell you the whole story of our company here now. Nonetheless, I would like to take this opportunity to shed some light on one particular aspect. An aspect that is not only significantly responsible for Swissbit's success in the past, but in my opinion is more important today than ever: I am talking about trust.

It is, of course, no coincidence that our corporate slogan is "Store. Secure. Trust." For me, trust is more than just a buzzword. Being a trustworthy partner to the customer is multifaceted. What sets us especially apart from other companies – including the big players – is our trusted supply chain. What does that mean?

It starts with the in-house design, development and qualification of products and solutions in close cooperation with leading technology partners, to the integration of security building blocks, and to the secure production in our own certified manufacturing facility in Berlin. With the acquisition of Hyperstone, we further deepened this value and technology chain and strengthened our position as a trusted partner focusing on products that we fully control from A to Z.

I’m sure you’ll agree, the world is changing faster today than it did 20 years ago. Digitalization and the ubiquitous networking of devices and services are creating new opportunities and even changing entire industries. At the same time, the challenges are growing because more and more data is being generated and transferred. The trustworthy handling of this data is how we want to contribute with our solutions.

To achieve this now and in the future, we must not stand still. The world will continue to change rapidly and Swissbit will accompany these changes and will certainly change, transform and develop itself in the process while our mission remains the same: To enable the digital and connected world by reliably storing and protecting data in industrial, security and IoT applications as a trusted partner.
